Transition Time

Mike will be staying in Washington for the next two years and then join me after his retirement. We are cozy in a 500 SF studio apartment on Queen Anne in Seattle for the next month. It will be lovely for him without all my stuff cluttering the space. This is the same apartment complex he lived in before and, the day he called them to see about an apartment was the same day notice was given for a studio on the top floor. Because he had rented there before he moved to the top of the waiting list - no wait! It was ordained timing. Check out the views!

I said goodbye to my car. I sold it to a very nice man who was born and raised on Maui. He moved here when he was 22 to work for Boeing but misses the heart and ambiance of the islands. It felt so right to be selling my car to him.

We have the condo papers to sign so by the end of the week will be ready to go, except for the packing. It feels a little overwhelming since I'm not just packing a few things for a vacation. We will mail a few boxes to pick up when we first get there and haul as much as we can reasonably carry on the plane. The rest will be mailed over time as I determine what is really needed. What is really needed is some relaxation on a beach! It's getting so close...

2007 Posts

I wanted to make a note about last years blogs since my sister was confused by them at first. I don't want to confuse any one else and, this may give you all some new learning experiences as well! The posts from 2007 are 'homework' blogs for a program that my place of employment invited it's employees to participate in. We earned an MP3 player if we finished within a certain time frame. Pretty cool! The King County Library System (www.kcls.org) wanted us to be more aware of the technology options available on the internet. The tool to do this was called "27 Things". We were to blog about each activity along the way. It was a fun thing to do. If you are new to blogs and other things on the internet it's a fun way to explore. You can go to the website: http://kcls27things-list.blogspot.com/. This site has the list and links to each of the tasks. Sometimes the directions are a little confusing or things don't work exactly like the instructions say but it is a fun adventure and a good way to exercise the brain!

winter reminder

What glorious weather we had today! The warmth and the beauty were almost enough to convince me to stay here in this beautiful state! HA!! Well, it is a beautiful state but I've enjoyed it for many years already. It's time to experience other kinds of beauty and warmth. I thought I'd include a picture of our December snow since it's been a few days without snow. We had so much this winter that a week without it is strange.

Off to Maui

It's been long time since I've blogged but there has been so much that has happened over the last couple of months that it might be worth some documenting of the process. I am moving to Maui! All my life I've played it safe and secure and only taken risks where I've been fairly secure about the outcome. All my life I've felt the need to break out of that shell but found many excuses to stay safely hidden away. All my life I've felt drawn to a far away living adventure but was too afraid to seriously consider it. Fate dropped this into my lap and I heard my heart say, "This is it - now or never!" What better time than now since that's really all we have. So, with that decision made, the house was prepped to put on the market. We listed in on a Friday and by Sunday we were signing the final offer papers. Things have fallen into place all along the way, reinforcing the 'rightness' of this decision. The house closes tomorrow and we are moved into a small apartment with a big view of the Seattle skyline. I have a one way ticket out of town on March 24th. Stayed tuned for the progress report.
